VideoSwarm pilots “byte-sized broadcasts” concept with Viacom International 09 December , 2015

Cape Town, 9 December 2015 – South African broadcast and video production company VideoSwarm, part of digital agency, HoneyKome (a division of the Ole! Media Group), has had its contract with Viacom International Media Networks’ BET Africa television organisation, extended.

Having been awarded the initial opportunity to produce the local daily magazine show – BET Buzz – which has been developed in South Africa in collaboration with Viacom, the format of the show is setting new standards for turnaround broadcast production. The material is recorded in the morning – a mixture of Videoswarm’s Johannesburg and Cape Town studios and on location – then edited and broadcast that same evening

In the months that the entertainment show has been aired it has attracted a growing following, clearly answering the demand for gossip genre programming in Africa. Appealing both to the viewers and the network, the format can be adapted for other territories, to suit specific in country style, while staying true to its lightening speed processing.

Says John Parr, executive producer at Videoswarm: “We have successfully combined the immediacy and art of video filming techniques with broadcast quality and extreme editing, to get this show on air on a daily basis. These byte-sized broadcasts are ideal for use on all digital media, too, with very little or no repurposing requirements.”

BET Buzz is presented by presenter/singer Tamarsha Khanyile and winner of BET’s ‘Top Actor SA’ Altovise Lawrence.on BET, channel 129 and on BET2, channel 135 on the DSTV bouquet at 19H00 CAT.
